Cleanings by Hygienist

We strive to have hygienists do the cleanings on all patients including children.  Doctors and assistants can supplement, but are only secondary resources, as hygienists are specialized to give proper attention and expertise for:

• Highest quality cleaning,
• Thorough oral health exam,
• Comprehensive patient education,
• Proper Informed Consent, and
• Specialist Training to Diagnose a Preliminary Treatment Plan. Utah Code 58-69-102 (7)(i)
• "Other then conventional dental hygiene clinical techniques, the MAJOR responsibility of dental hygienists is to EDUCATE PATIETNS ABOUT ALL AREAS OF DENTISTRY" Gordon Christensen

Notes:

• Limited circumstances will occasionally require adaptations such as "Cascade" double hygiene or non-adult appointments being moved to assistants/Doctors schedule.
• "Cascade" Double Hygiene: An assistant is solely assigned to help a hygienists for the entire duration of the appointments. No additional work or stress should be felt by office or patient as two warm bodies are committed to two rooms for full length appointments. Be careful to not have 2nd hygienists help so we don't unintentionally shorten the appointment, patient time, or the patient experience. Hygienists will be given an extra hour of pay for each 4-6 hr shift doing "Cascade" Double Hygiene (adaptable by office manager).
