Concierge Principle
Both the Assistant and Hygienist fill this role. Like a concierge at a nice hotel, they are all things to our patients.
They check them in, schedule them, and "bring others in as needed" to assist them:). (such as a Doctor for an exam or the Coordinator for financial/Insurance arrangements.) The Concierge remains with the patient all the way until the end, even walking the patient to the door if possible.
Hygienist may, if very thorough, handoff their patients to the Coordinator. Assistants will not handoff, but will stay with the patient and walk them to the door. Good examples of this principle in action include a team member waiting to greet the patent when they arrive, facilitate another team member to help accompanying children with TV or toys, assist a mother with young children to her car, or a receptionist who verifies insurance without an insurance card. It is our charge to find and enjoy ways to exceed our patient’s expectations.
