Cerec Certified 25-45 Minutes
Mill Crown (5-10 minutes)
- If crown takes longer than computer estimates & burs are used at least 15 times, change burs for the next crown.
Trim the Sprue, & Opposite Side (2 minutes)
- For bulk reduction use water and rough bur to prevent overheating which introduces cracks into the crown and ruins the bur.
- Use a fine bur to smooth all remnants of sprue and circle pattern on opposite side.
- Stay away from margins and contacts.
- Clean oil off crown with alcohol; oil will make the tooth sensitive.
Try in the Crown ( 3 minutes)
- Check contacts, make sure they are not open.
- Check margins with explorer to see if there is a ledge on buccal and lingual and to make sure it is seated all the way.
- If you question either the margins or contacts, have the doctor check.
Glaze the Crown (5 minutes to hit start) 13- 28 minutes
- Alcohol crown again to clean porcelain for glazing.
- Mount the crown.
- Seal the margins so no glaze gets on margins or crown will not fit.
- Clean all residue off of the crown so no white spots and unglazed spots near margins.
- Glaze thoroughly to not miss spots, not too much in occlusal or it will bubble.
- Any stains added need to blend in enough so the tooth looks normal. If you can see stains then it is often to much.
- Be there when oven opens to save time. Watch it cool.
Etch Crown (2 minutes)
- Clean inside of crown so we get a good bond.
- Etch crown and all margins 20 or 60 seconds exactly, not + or – more then 5 seconds at this reduces bond strength by 20%.
- Scrub Monobond for minimum of 60 seconds Try to keep it off the outside of the crown so clean up of cement is easier.
